Editorial Policy

Last updated: June 1, 2026

1. Our Editorial Mission

KickOff Live is committed to delivering accurate, timely, and engaging football content to fans around the world. Our editorial mission is to inform, analyse, and entertain while upholding the highest standards of journalistic integrity. We believe that quality sports journalism is essential to the fan experience, and we hold ourselves accountable to our readers.

This Editorial Policy outlines the principles, processes, and standards that guide our content creation. It applies to all content published on the Site, including news articles, match reports, analysis pieces, opinion columns, and data-driven features.

2. Content Creation Process

2.1 Sourcing and Research

Our writers and editors gather information from a variety of credible sources, including:

  • Official club websites and communications
  • League governing bodies (Premier League, UEFA, FIFA, etc.)
  • Press conferences and official media briefings
  • Verified journalist reports and wire services
  • Official match data feeds and statistical providers
  • First-hand observation and on-the-ground reporting

2.2 Writing and Review

Every piece of content goes through a multi-stage editorial process:

  1. Assignment: The editorial team identifies stories based on newsworthiness, relevance to our audience, and editorial priorities.
  2. Research & drafting: The writer conducts research and produces a draft following our style guide and factual accuracy standards.
  3. Editorial review: An editor reviews the draft for accuracy, clarity, tone, and adherence to policy. Factual claims are verified against source material.
  4. Legal review: Content involving sensitive topics, legal matters, or potential reputational risks is reviewed by a senior editor.
  5. Publication: Once approved, the content is published with author attribution and a publication timestamp.

2.3 Breaking News Protocol

For breaking news and transfer rumours, we follow an expedited but still rigorous process. Initial reports may be published with a single verified source and clearly labelled as developing. Updates are added as more information becomes available, and the article is updated with a revision timestamp. Unconfirmed reports are explicitly labelled as rumours or speculation.

3. Accuracy and Corrections

Accuracy is the cornerstone of our editorial philosophy. We take immediate action to correct any errors that come to our attention:

  • Minor errors (e.g., typos, statistical discrepancies): Corrected promptly in the article.
  • Significant errors(e.g., incorrect match result, wrong attribution): Corrected with an editor's note at the top or bottom of the article explaining the change.
  • Retractions: If an article is found to be substantially inaccurate or based on false information, it will be retracted and clearly labelled as such.

Readers can report potential errors by emailing editor@kickofflive.online.

4. Attribution and Plagiarism

We strictly prohibit plagiarism. All content must be original or properly attributed to the original source. When we report information first published by another outlet, we clearly credit the source and provide a link where appropriate. Direct quotations are attributed to the speaker and contextualised fairly.

Our writers are expected to maintain the highest standards of intellectual honesty. Any violation of this policy may result in disciplinary action, including termination of contributor agreements.

5. Conflicts of Interest

Our editorial team operates independently of commercial, political, and club interests. Writers and editors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest, including:

  • Personal relationships with club officials, players, or agents
  • Financial investments in clubs or sports betting companies
  • Employment or consultancy arrangements with football organisations
  • Family connections to subjects covered in their articles

Staff members are recused from covering stories where a conflict exists. We clearly label any content produced under a potential conflict with a disclosure statement.

6. Distinguishing News from Opinion

We clearly distinguish between factual news reporting and opinion or analysis content:

  • News articles: Present factual information objectively, without editorial bias. Both sides of a story are represented where relevant.
  • Analysis: Provide interpretation and context based on facts, clearly labelled and attributed to the analyst.
  • Opinion pieces:Express the personal views of the author. These are clearly labelled as “Opinion” or “Column” and do not necessarily represent the views of KickOff Live.
  • Sponsored content:Produced in partnership with advertisers and clearly labelled as “Sponsored” or “Paid Content.”

7. Diversity and Inclusion

We are committed to covering the global football community with fairness and respect. Our editorial team actively seeks diverse perspectives and voices. We avoid stereotypes, pejorative language, and disproportionate coverage that favours certain leagues or regions over others. We strive to ensure that our coverage reflects the rich diversity of the sport and its fanbase.

8. Reader Engagement

We welcome feedback from our readers. Comments, questions, and constructive criticism help us improve. We moderate user comments to maintain a respectful environment and remove content that violates our community guidelines. To share feedback, please contact us at editor@kickofflive.online.

9. Policy Updates

This Editorial Policy is reviewed periodically and may be updated to reflect changes in our practices, industry standards, or legal requirements. We encourage readers to review this page regularly.
